Yoga poses for the nervous system
The nervous system is a highly specialized network of which principal components are nerves called neurons. Neurons coordinate multiple functions in organisms. The central nervous system (CNS) represents the largest part of the system, including the brain and the spinal cord. In yoga, This system refers to Chakras. Chakras are spirals of energy that spin in from the front of the physical body towards the spine and into the sushumna nadi in the spinal column. There are seven major Chakras:
- The Base Chakra (Muladhara) - at the anus
- The Sacral Chakra (Svadishana) - at the genitals
- The Solar Plexus (Manipura) - at the navel
- The Heart Center (Anahata) - at the heart
- The Throat Center (Visuddha) - at the throat
- The Forehead Center (Ajna) - between and behind the eyebrows
- The Crown Center (Sahasrara) - at the crown of the head
It is believed that practicing yoga asanas and pranayama correctly will help invigorate these 7 chakras which will awaken central nervous system and psychic center.
